For those who are new to the new norm of WFH may struggle with issues like maintaining productivity, keeping away from distractions, having online conferences everyday and many more! Here are Four (4) Useful Tips for those who wish to keep their pace with others while working from home.

Dress Up

It might sound silly when the Women and Family Development Ministry of Malaysia suggested that women should dress up and wear their makeup while working from home. However, such habit is crucial for both men and women in order to make one feel more confident and increase productivity.

It is VERY TEMPTING to stay in pyjamas all day long, isn't it? However, there is a need to draw the line between work and non-working hours. This is therefore one simple yet important step in getting yourself Physically & Mentally ready for work.

Perhaps you don't have to go through the complete step-by-step getting-to-work routine, but appearance IS IMPORTANT. Especially when working from home in the 21st century, you can escape from office, but you can't escape from video conferences!

Fix Your Working Hours

" Working from home is no different from working in the office. You get up on time, hope to desk on time, but never finishing work on time... "

There is not much differences if you compare the both. In fact, it takes extra effort to make working from home actually WORKS. You are now in charge of your time management, the environment you are in and the distractions around you. For those who needs to monitor the progress of other departments or colleagues, if you can't even get yourself together, how are you supposed to go for the extra?

Hence, the easiest way is to stick to your regular working hours and routines. You've already saved those hours which you had to stuck in traffic, what else do you expect huh?

Design A Workspace

Just because you doesn’t mean you don't need an equivalent routine to get yourself ready for work. Give yourself some 'signal' that it's time for work - lying on bed while doing your work definitely WON'T WORK!

It might be challenging from some to keep their work and home separate. However, designa a workspace doesn't mean freeing up one entire room to do so. You can simply find a corner that is comfortable with a chair and good lighting. Entering this work space on time and leave it after work at the end of the day helps one to disengage from work. Imagine if you're thinking about slacking during work and can't get the work stuff off your mind when it's time to sleep, isn't that suffering? So, it is best to make your workspace separate from the rest of your home.

Remember to Socialize

When your TV, your pet, your PS4 are right in front of you, is kinda difficult not to get distracted and it is totally understandable! However, when every one of us are trying so hard to cut off social interactions and stay away from everything else, make sure that we stay CONNECTED. Don't be afraid to reach out and remember to take care of our mental health from time to time. 2020 has been tougher than ever, but give yourself some break where necessary.

Feeling stressed or need someone to talk to? Reach out to people around you - we're here for you! <3
