How to Clean & Disinfect Your Home during Covid-19

by Javen Loh, Marketing Manager of White Forest Suites

Ever since the pandemic began, we are OBSESSED with cleaning up our homes daily. Cleaning routine is one of the most important part of our daily life, especially for hotel & lodging sector. Now we've known that coronavirus can linger on surfaces for days, here are the everyday steps to be taken in preventing the spread of virus.

In compliance with Airbnb’s 5-step enhanced cleaning process, White Forest Suites has adopted the following process in cleaning up our premises:

Getting Ready

Before you start to clean the house, make sure you yourself are clean! Hence, all our cleaners are required to sanitize their hands, wear disposable gloves and face masks before entering the house. The cleaning equipment has to be washed and cleaned regularly, too!

Ensuring Ventilation

Once entered the unit, all windows are opened to ensure adequate ventilation. Ventilation is important as it allows fresh air to come in and dilute any pollutants generated within the indoor space.

Cleaning

So here we go! Our cleaning process starts from washing and wiping hard surfaces with soap and water, changing bed sheets, vacuuming and mopping the entire apartment.

It is important to focus on high touch surfaces, including door handles, light switches, toilet, sinks, refrigerator etc. This is because the number of germs accumulated is as much as the level of use of each item. Using soap and water to clean is a must in order to kill germs on surfaces.

Disinfecting

Cleaning your house is good but not enough - you will need to disinfect it. By disinfect, it means using chemicals to kill any germs present on object surfaces. Here, we use disinfectant spray after cleaning and then allow for the surfaces to air-dry before the next guest check-in.

Note: If you were to use any disinfectants at home, do take note of the safety precautions.

Double Check

Finally, you're almost there - refer to your checklist to make sure every corner is cleaned and disinfected after each guest checked out. Always keep your gloves and mask on when handling disposal of trash. Once everything's checked, reset and replace new items for the next guests and there you go!

As a guest, you can do your part by keeping the apartment as clean as possible. Wash and sanitize your hands regularly and do not overcrowd the room. If you need any assistance, you can always reach out to your host to solve your issues.
